Elon Musk's SpaceX buying out 418 homes near flagship AI data center, but only if they drop participation in lawsuit — report claims the company is targeting an entire neighborhood, but will only buy from people who don't pursue noise pollution compl

Nearly two dozen residents have already accepted buyout offers from SpaceXSI, the data center venture owned by Elon Musk that supplies computing power for Grok. The company is pursuing acquisition of 418 homes in Colonial Hills, a neighborhood in Southaven, Mississippi, situated roughly half a mile away from the power generation facility that will energize its data center operations in the region. According to reporting by The Guardian, representatives working as real estate agents have been canvassing the neighborhood, presenting purchase proposals to homeowners on condition that they refrain from joining a class-action suit alleging noise disturbances from the gas turbines supplying electricity to the GPU infrastructure.

MZX, the operating subsidiary of SpaceXSI managing the Colossus II installation, distributed a letter to the surrounding community stating that it "requires property for its business purposes." Southaven's mayor, Darren Musselwhite, indicated that the acquired properties would serve as housing for SpaceXSI personnel as the company scales its operations. Musk has been reported to be present in the area four nights each week, residing in an Airstream trailer while personally managing the construction and deployment of infrastructure required to support Grok AI.
