Framework slashes LPCAMM2 memory costs, issues retroactive credits to Laptop 13 Pro buyers
The modular laptop maker secured a limited batch of RAM modules at reduced prices and is passing savings back to customers who already purchased at higher rates.
Prices are dropping, even for orders that have already shipped
Framework announced it had negotiated lower pricing on LPCAMM2 memory modules and would extend those savings retroactively. "We have a positive update today on LPCAMM2 pricing! We were able to source a limited quantity at lower cost, and are retroactively reducing prices for orders that shipped at higher price, as well as offering the lower price to orders through Batch 10" the company stated via X. The company's blog post elaborated that its Supply Chain team "has been working continuously to source additional inventory at better prices."
Chief executive Nirav Patel confirmed the reductions would apply to "both already shipped and a subset of pending pre-orders." The move represents a significant shift from Framework's July 22 announcement, when the company nearly doubled its asking price for 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 configurations in the Laptop 13 Pro. While the newly adjusted rates remain elevated compared to the original pre-order baseline, Framework noted they represent "lower than the last cost update that drove our current pricing for new pre-orders."
The company cautioned that this pricing window will likely be temporary. Framework emphasized that the quantity of modules obtained at the reduced rate is constrained. The company indicated on X that availability would be allocated "first-come, first-serve to customers through Batch 10". Should Framework secure additional stock, it plans to "open it to later batches and then to new pre-orders."
Customers whose orders have already been delivered at the previous higher price will receive automatic refunds for the difference. Pre-orders extending through Batch 10 have been automatically repriced to reflect the improved cost structure. Buyers with pending orders who wish to increase their RAM allocation to capitalize on the lower pricing can modify their selection through the order summary page, with guidance available in Framework's Help Center.
Owners of the DIY Edition Laptop 13 Pro that shipped before this announcement and who want to upgrade to the 32GB or 64GB LPCAMM2 modules at the reduced price may submit a contact form to arrange an exchange.
