Despite relying on TN panel architecture, the forthcoming display will incorporate local dimming and Black Frame Insertion technologies intended to strengthen visual performance.

AntGamer, based in China, has announced plans to introduce a 1,000 Hz esports monitor by 2026. According to ITHome, the exceptionally fast refresh display received discussion during the 'Peak New Products and Ecological Co-creation' conference held recently. Social media posts from AntGamer on Weibo documented the event.

The 1,000 Hz refresh rate announcement coincided with the official introduction of AntGamer's ANT257PF monitor, which supports 750 Hz refresh rates. ITHome notes this display utilizes "the G8.6 generation Fast TN e-sports panel from HKC Huike Display" (machine translation). While noteworthy, this achievement follows Koorui's January announcement of its own 750 Hz gaming display at CES.

Information regarding the 1,000 Hz monitor planned for 2026 remains limited at this stage. Based on available details, the upcoming display will include these specifications:

  • 1,000 Hz refresh
  • TN panel technology
  • Local Dimming technology
  • Black Frame Insertion (BFI) technology

For those unfamiliar with BFI, our April review of the Dough Spectrum Black 32 Ultra HD OLED Gaming Monitor examined this feature. We determined that BFI delivered the most benefit when operating below 200 frames per second.

AMD partnership on whitepaper

Technical presentation slides from the ANT257PF launch appeared in AntGamer's Weibo posts.

AntGamer has released a technical white paper developed in collaboration with AMD. "This afternoon, Ant Esports held a 1,000fps eSports press conference, jointly releasing a 1,000fps eSports white paper with AMD, along with the specs required for the corresponding games," the company stated.

Examination of the presentation materials reveals that games optimized for these extreme refresh rates encompass competitive titles such as CS2 and PUBG.

Additional slides addressed engineering factors including high-speed signal integrity, enhancements to amorphous silicon semiconductor thin film materials, and modifications to display cell construction and chemistry designed to achieve "extremely fast response times."

Although most slides relate to the newly released 750 Hz model, these same technological approaches are likely to carry forward or be expanded upon in the forthcoming 1,000 Hz display.

For those who believe current monitors operating at several hundred frames per second represent a limitation, a 1,000 Hz panel could appeal to your aspirations. Nevertheless, the majority of users seek equilibrium between maximum speed and superior image fidelity. The market now offers an expanding range of OLED gaming monitors with refresh rates of 240 Hz, 320 Hz, and 480 Hz introduced this year.
