Sincere Inc. has introduced a fresh variant of its Pixel Tunes portable Bluetooth CD player featuring an 'After Hours' finish, marking a limited-edition release among four translucent color options. What distinguishes this particular model is its use of phosphorescent materials, making it the sole offering in the lineup capable of glowing in the dark. Consumers can purchase the device for 12,980 yen, equivalent to approximately $83.

The manufacturer positions the Pixel Tunes as a fusion of retro-futuristic aesthetics with contemporary technology. Beyond the new After Hours variant, three standard translucent finishes—Warm Gray, Ray of Light, and 1983—are already available. The After Hours edition, however, elevates the appeal through its luminescent properties.

In normal lighting conditions, the After Hours Pixel Tunes presents itself as a translucent smoke-colored portable CD player. "But when the lights are turned off, the body glows with a soft, fantastical green light," says Sincere Inc. The company describes its design philosophy as capturing the experience of transitioning "from bright everyday life to the private world of the night."

Beneath its distinctive exterior, the Pixel Tunes incorporates specifications befitting a contemporary portable audio device. The player features a USB Type-C rechargeable lithium-ion battery and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, distinguishing it from purely analog predecessors.

Technical Specifications

  • CD audio music player
  • Status LCD display
  • ESP anti-skip audio with 60-second buffer
  • Control buttons for play mode, skip/rewind, stop, play/pause, and skip/fast forward
  • Volume wheel with integrated power on/off functionality
  • Connectivity via USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and charging LED indicator
  • Integrated stereo speakers
  • Rechargeable battery providing 5-7 hours of playback

The device specifications do not clarify whether the Pixel Tunes supports CD-R or CD-RW recordable media, a potential limitation for users with home-burned disc collections. Similarly, the manufacturer provides no documentation regarding compatibility with MP3-encoded discs or USB audio playback functionality.

Prospective buyers outside Japan have options for acquiring the After Hours edition or alternative color variants. Amazon Japan offers international shipping for this limited-edition model, contingent upon the buyer's location, maintaining the 12,980 yen price point.

The Pixel Tunes joins a growing category of translucent portable CD players entering the market in 2026. A recent example includes an orange variant themed around the video game Death Stranding 2, developed through a partnership between designer Hideo Kojima and audio manufacturer km5.
