Salesforce Bundles Six Platform Tools Into Enterprise AI Harness to Bridge Agent Silos

Salesforce has formalized its Enterprise AI Harness, a unified framework combining six core platform capabilities designed to eliminate data and workflow fragmentation across distributed AI agents.

On Thursday, Salesforce announced the Enterprise AI Harness, consolidating years of work on AI infrastructure and alignment concepts into a single formalized offering. The company's premise is straightforward: completing routine business operations—such as processing a customer order—requires coordination across multiple systems, each holding different pieces of the puzzle. The CRM system knows the customer, the ERP system tracks inventory, field service management handles delivery logistics, and support systems manage customer interactions. Without proper integration, this fragmentation creates what Salesforce describes as AI leakage, where individual agents operate in relative isolation rather than as a cohesive system.

Six core capabilities unified under one architecture

Salesforce's solution brings together what the company calls six trusted capabilities from its platform portfolio, paired with a newly developed AI control plane designed to support an open, composable AI ecosystem. The Enterprise AI Harness integrates Data 360 (unified customer data platform), Informatica (data integration and governance), MuleSoft and Agent Fabric (API connectivity and multi-agent orchestration), Tableau (visual analytics), Agentforce (agent platform), Salesforce Guardian (security and compliance), and the core Salesforce platform through a shared architecture and unified interface.

The Agentic Enterprise won't be defined by which model a company chooses. Models will continue to change, and intelligence will increasingly be available everywhere. What will differentiate an enterprise is the trusted, proprietary context it brings to that intelligence — starting with the customer — and its ability to securely turn that context into action.

Building on existing harness infrastructure

This announcement represents a broader platform-wide formalization rather than Salesforce's first venture into harness technology. Components within the six-pack, such as Agentforce Vibes (a natural language coding tool), already employ specialized execution harnesses including Mastra and the Claude Agent SDK to manage local agent execution loops. The new offering extends this approach across the entire platform ecosystem.

The framework organizes capabilities around six dimensions: context, agency, action, governance, security, and models. Alongside these, Salesforce is introducing a new AI control plane that provides developers with centralized visibility and management of agents. The company emphasizes flexibility, stating that engineers can "use the six together as one system or take only what they need," and can construct deployments combining Salesforce technology, third-party solutions, or both.

Developer feedback shapes the approach

Practitioners on platforms like G2 and Gartner Peer Insights have offered candid assessments of Salesforce's existing tools. An operations associate named Ashish B. commented in August on Agentforce as a standalone product, noting that setup and configuration present challenges. He observed, "One area that could be improved is the initial setup and configuration process. Building effective agents can take some customization and a solid understanding of the workflow. The platform would be even better with simpler configuration options and clearer, more straightforward guidance on setting up agents for specific business use cases."

Similar observations emerged regarding Informatica's user experience. A DevOps engineer writing on Gartner Peer Insights in March acknowledged that the platform "works well" for connecting multiple data sources and supports both batch and real-time processing, but cautioned that "Debugging and monitoring pipelines can be difficult in complex workflows. Initial setup is challenging for new users and requires some learning curve. [The] User Interface could be improved for better usability and faster navigation."

Salesforce appears to have absorbed this feedback. The Enterprise AI Harness connects reasoning to business rules, policies, and controls to enable predictable execution. It makes these capabilities reusable across the organization, allowing context to flow between agents and models. Actions and workflows can be invoked securely wherever needed, with governance and security applied uniformly as AI expands throughout the business.

Six pillars of trusted AI

The Enterprise AI Harness rests on six foundational trust principles that Salesforce has defined:

  • Trusted Context combines customer data, metadata, semantics, knowledge, real-time signals, memory, and understanding of enterprise workflows.
  • Trusted Agency equips agents with reasoning, planning, state, memory, and orchestration, blending flexible AI reasoning with deterministic controls where precision is essential.
  • Trusted Action securely links AI to applications, APIs, workflows, tools, and business processes.
  • Trusted Governance manages the data, metadata, policies, and processes underlying AI, including lineage, quality, guardrails, and controls.
  • Trusted Security applies identity, permissions, privacy, data protection, and runtime security to constrain AI access and agent capabilities.
  • Trusted Models provides security through intelligent model routing based on accuracy, performance, cost, and requirements.

Extensibility beyond Salesforce ecosystem

Salesforce is constructing the Enterprise AI Harness with a headless architecture from the ground up, making capabilities accessible through MCP, APIs, skills, and plug-ins. This design allows Salesforce functionality to extend beyond traditional Salesforce applications into services including Claude, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.

Many of the underlying technologies powering the Trusted Enterprise AI Harness are available immediately. New capabilities and the unified experience are scheduled to begin rolling out during early fiscal year 2028.
