Switch 2 Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition preorders open on Amazon for $519.99 — here's your last shot to grab the limited-edition console at MSRP

Avoid overpaying to resellers—lock in your preorder now while you can. The Nintendo Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition became available for preorder immediately following Nintendo's latest Direct presentation and vanished from shelves within moments. Walmart has the system listed and is accepting preorders, while Amazon continues to offer it at $519.99, giving buyers one final opportunity to secure the device at its official price before the secondary market takes over.

Target, Best Buy, and GameStop were among the first major U.S. chains to open preorders for the Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition, only to see inventory disappear immediately. Resellers wasted no time posting the same preorders on eBay with asking prices as high as $1,000, nearly double Nintendo's MSRP. Zelda-branded hardware has consistently attracted scalper attention.

The Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition marks the inaugural limited-edition variant of the Switch 2 and commemorates four decades of the Zelda franchise, making it especially coveted among devoted fans and profit-minded resellers. The $519.99 asking price—merely $20 above the standard Switch 2—creates additional appeal for consumers. The real challenge lies in actually finding stock available.

Nintendo extended the Zelda 40th Anniversary treatment to complementary accessories as well. The Switch 2 Pro controller and carrying case with integrated screen protector both received the special edition branding. Best Buy currently has both items available for preorder at $99.99 and $39.99 respectively.

The Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition arrives on October 29. Historically, Zelda-themed consoles have been purchasable on their official launch dates. Nevertheless, availability is expected to be severely constrained, prompting many enthusiasts to secure preorders ahead of time.

Whether Nintendo will manufacture substantial quantities of the Switch 2 The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition remains unclear. With earlier limited-edition releases like the Nintendo Switch OLED: Tears of the Kingdom Edition and Nintendo Switch Lite: Hyrule Edition, supply proved adequate enough that both remain obtainable today, even as previous-generation products.
